Target Audience:     
Children & Families Social Work Practitioners and other CSD staff who work with asylum seekers, refugees and unaccompanied children.

Course Aim:
To inform practice and understanding of staff in children's services about asylum seekers; trafficked young people, refugees and unaccompanied children.

Course Content:
The course will cover the following topics/ issues:

  • Legislation
  • Incidence & scale of the problem
  • Identifying duties of LA in relation to asylum seekers & unaccompanied children
  • Risk factors
  • Assessments
  • Working with young people who have been trafficked
  • Local resources and support systems
  • Private fostering
  • Addressing concerns in practice
  • Prevention

Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, delegates will have:
