Working with Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and Young People including issues of Trafficking
Target Audience:
Children & Families Social Work Practitioners and other CSD staff who work with asylum seekers, refugees and unaccompanied children.
Course Aim:
To inform practice and understanding of staff in children's services about asylum seekers; trafficked young people, refugees and unaccompanied children.
Course Content:
The course will cover the following topics/ issues:
- Legislation
- Incidence & scale of the problem
- Identifying duties of LA in relation to asylum seekers & unaccompanied children
- Risk factors
- Assessments
- Working with young people who have been trafficked
- Local resources and support systems
- Private fostering
- Addressing concerns in practice
- Prevention
