Risk Assessment in Learning Disability Working
There is a specific course for assessing individual service users' risk within the care environment for people who have learning disabilities. This course also addresses the issues of independence and choice when assessing risk. The following are the learning outcomes for this course:
- To develop an understanding of what risk assessment is
- To develop an understanding of how to carry out risk assessments
- To investigate how to empower service users to be involved in the process
- To develop an understanding of the organisational approach to risk assessment
- To work on risk assessments for the organisation
- To be familiar with the Government paper on Independence, Choice and Risk: a guide to best practice in supported decision making: May 2007
