Race, Culture and Mental Health Practice
Course Overview:
There is ample evidence demonstrating that Black and Minority Ethnic people are more likely to be:
- diagnosed with mental health conditions,
- retained under the Mental Health Act and
- treated with therapies other than 'talking therapies'
This study day introduces the need for practitioners to have cultural competence in delivering care to this group of people.
Using case studies to look at critical issues.
Aims & Objectives:
Raise awareness of the impact of race and culture on the incidence and management of management of mental health practice.
