The course will cover the following
- Setting the context 'Every Child Matters' and identify the key aspects which relate to the children and young people with whom they work
- Barriers to communication
- Addressing areas of risk with young people
- Confidentiality & Consent
- Legislation
- Policies & procedures
Objectives
Delegates will be able to
- Explain how their work relates to any of the five outcomes in 'Every Child Matters'
- Take account of the experiences, preferences, wishes and needs of children and young people when providing a service to them
- Listen to children's and young people's views about risk and safety and take these into account in their work
- Understand the importance of confidentiality
- Understand the limits of confidentiality
- Know how to apply policies and procedures about sharing information
