Outline
The course explores a range of child protection issues that those who work regularly with children need to be aware of when providing care
Aims
To provide delegates with an awareness of all aspects of child protection:
- What constitutes abuse
- Attitudes and values
- Legal framework guidance and procedures
- Working together
- Identifying signs and symptoms
- Reporting concerns
- Report Writing Information sharing and confidentiality
- Risk Assessment
- Safe Practice
- Child protection and family group conferences
Objectives
Delegates will be able to:
- Consider attitudes and values that may affect practice of safeguarding children
- Identify the different types of child abuse
- Understand the Dept of Health criteria and consider the risk
- Be aware of legislation and current initiatives which underpin practice
- Understand their role within the child protection process and the role of others
- Understand and use local child protection procedures
- Pass on relevant information appropriately
- Practice safely within the workplace
- Participate fully in joint working forums
- Consider the co-ordinated and consistent approach to child protection
