FAC - Fair Access to Care

Introduction:
In accordance with the Department of Health guidelines on eligibility criteria for Adult Social Care, TCR are able to offer this training programme to aid in the implementation of Fair Access to Care Services in local authorities. The legislation has been in place since April 1st 2003.

This training proposal aims to meet these requirements by providing managers and care managers/social workers with the skills and expertise needed in order to competently and confidently implement and manage FACS at point of initial assessment of new referrals.

Aims:

  • To provide clarity and consistency in the introduction and implementation of FACS across Social Services
  • To highlight issues of discrimination and prejudice in making assessments and determining eligibility
  • To utilise the existing skills and strengths of managers and staff teams making assessments of needs in their application of FACS
  • To identify preventative approaches whereby individuals may avoid critical or substantial risk by obtaining the right kind of support early on
  • To provide delegates with a working understanding of how to assess an individuals eligibility
  • To provide delegates with an understanding of their own authority's eligibility criteria
  • To provide delegates with a guide for care planning that operates within the ethos of FACS and is acceptable within a multi-agency framework
