Wheel Chair Moving and Handling Workshop
This course will acknowledge the specific working practices of the attendee in relation to the following aims and objectives.
Aims:
To enable the attendee
- to understand their legal obligations relating to moving and handling
- to assess risk when involved in assisting a person to move as part of their duties
- to develop safer moving and assisting for their clients and self when transferring a person to and from a wheelchair
Learning Outcomes:
Attendees to have knowledge and awareness of:
- Health and safety and other relevant legislation
- The application of safe principles of moving and handling as it pertains to their work practices and methods when transferring a wheelchair user to and from their wheelchairÂ
- The assessment of moving and handling methods and practical solutions to consider to reduce risk
- How to promote good back health practices both at home and at work
Attendees to have opportunity to observe and practice the following manoeuvres:
Wheelchair transfers to and from a wheelchair into and from a vehicle or other settings
