Aims:
To Enable Participants To Review And Update Their:

  • Understanding of legal requirements and obligations relating to moving and handling as a basis of assessment within their organisation
  • Understanding of ergonomics relevant to safer handling
  • Skills in Identification of ergonomic mismatches in moving and handling
  • Assessment knowledge and skills and to be confident in assessing persons who present moving and handling problems

Objectives:
The intention is for attendees to update their working knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • legal framework, local policies and protocols in order to enable compliance
  • Ergonomics as pertaining to moving and handling 
  • risk assessment applying rationales, processes and procedures
  • safer handling techniques including current 'good practice' techniques and awareness of equipment available
  • ability to apply the ergonomic approach to develop practical solutions to moving and assisting problems
