Fire Precaution Course/Fire Safety (half day 2½ hours)
The Fire Precaution/Fire Safety course is required by all staff.
Learning outcomes:
- Demonstrates an understanding of how fire starts and develops
- Identifies types of fire and causes
- Can explain the means of escape pertaining to their own building and organisation and other safe procedures
- Can identify the various fire extinguishers and explain how they are used
- Explain the importance of and the processes of liaison with the Fire Brigade and other emergency services
- Demonstrate an understanding, importance and use of information such as floor plans; registers and personnel under their charge
- Be aware of the importance of supporting the safety of people with a disability and potential solutions developed within the organisation by the designated Fire Warden e.g. Be aware of up to date risk assessments; plans of individual evacuation management in place as appropriate. These documents and procedures are actioned and maintained by the designated Fire Warden who should make this information available to all appropriate staff etc.
