Manual handling equipment workshop

Course Aim:

This half day work shop is an opportunity Personal Assistants and Care Staff delivering care to people with manual handling needs to gain confidence and skills in the use of equipment they may use in their delivery of safer handling care

Course Information:

The programme will be facilitated by an experienced trainer in areas of physical disability and equipment and will be a very participatory workshop with demonstration of equipment and a strong emphasis on practical work including single and double handed working. There will also be a session around issues that can arise over use of equipment and approaches to consider in order to move forward with the service user/client

The sessions will include:

  • An overview of equipment  provisions within the Council
  • Demonstration of small handling aids equipment for chairs and beds
  • Demonstration of large handling equipment for complex manual handling needs
  • Practical workshop for single handed and double handed care staff /personal assistants
  • Problem solving workshop around issues of service user or client resistance to use of equipment provided
  • Identification reporting and documentation of concerns
