First Aid at Work Re-Qualification - Two Day Course

Course Overview:
This course is an essential part of the safe system of work that ensures standards are maintained and the organisation is kept up to date of any changes that have taken place. There will be a review of the subjects covered in the original 3 day course (First Aid at Work).

Course design can be tailored to meet specific needs but will ensure compliance to HSE requirements.

Aims:
To update the candidate in areas of knowledge and practical skills to ensure they remain competent to manage an incident arising. Delegates must have taken the 4 day First Aid at Work course and are within the 3 year period.  (Over three years requires the full 3 day course to be re-taken)**.

Objectives:
At the end of the course delegates will be updated in the recognition and treatment of a casualty:

  • needing resuscitation
  • who is unconscious
  • who has wounds and  bleeding
  • who has injured their muscles, bones or joints
  • who has been burnt or scalded
  • who is suffering from shock
  • who has eye injuries
  • who is overcome with gas or fumes
  • who requires transportation to second aid treatment

Delegates will be updated in legislation and policies.

They will be given opportunities to practice skills and problem solving with a facilitator who will develop and further their knowledge base.

Certification: Certification will be upon successful completion of the Health & Safety Executive assessment procedures, involving practical first aid demonstration and a multi-choice examination

Handouts: Delegates will receive a course booklet.

*Duration: 2 days 9.30-4.30pm (or same hours as arranged by mutual convenience)

**Information: Delegates MUST bring their original First Aid at Work (4 days) certificate and this must be within a 3 year period. They will NOT be allowed to stay and attend without this. We must comply with HSE regulations in this matter.
