Three Day First Aid at Work

Course Overview:
First Aid is the initial assistance given to a casualty in a medical or trauma emergency before the arrival of higher qualified medical help.

This 3 day HSE ApprovedĀ First Aid at Work course complies with the current Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

This course is suitable for:
Nominated personnel in an environment where they will be with working with other adults and need a First Aid at Work Certificate and become designated First Aiders.

Aims:
Delegates will receive knowledge of emergency procedures that will enable them to meet the required standards of the HSE to deal with work place first aid accidents.

Course Content
At the end of the course delegates will be able to recognise and treat a casualty who:

  • Is in need of resuscitation
  • Is in need of CPR
  • Is Unconscious
  • Has wounds, bleeding, shock
  • Has injured their muscles, bones or joints
  • Has been burnt or scalded
  • Who is suffering from shock
  • Has eye injuries
  • Has been overcome by gas or fumes
  • Has been poisoned

DAY ONE

  • Module 6    Primary Assessment
  • Module 7    Secondary Assessment

  • Module 9    Principles of Resuscitation
  • Module 10   Disorders of Respiration
  • Module 11   Disorders of the Circulation

DAY TWO

  • Module 12   Wounds and Bleeding and Recap Paper 1
  • Module 13   Disorders of Consciousness
  • Module 14   Foreign Objects
  • Module 15   Burns and Scalds
  • Module 16   Bones, Joints and Muscle Injuries
  • Module 17   Poisoning
  • Module 18   Incident Training

DAY THREE

  • Module 19   Recap Paper 2 and Other Conditions
  • Module 20   Casualty Management
  • Module 21   Resuscitation Procedures
  • Module 22   Incident Management
  • ASSESSMENT

Duration: 3 days 9.30am - 4.30pm

Certification: Certification will be upon successful completion of the Health & Safety Executive assessment procedures, involving practical first aid demonstration and a multi-choice examination. Certification lasts for 3 years.
