Aim
The aim of the course is to enable those who attend to gain the skills needed to prepare, deliver and evaluate the training of adults.  In addition, they will be able to evaluate their own performance as a trainer.

Outcomes
By the end of the day those who attend will be able to identify how to:

  • Pin point learning needs across a variety of levels including organisational, departmental and individual
  • Design and evaluate a variety of learning materials
  • Assess learning both formally and summatively
  • Prepare a session plan
  • Present and evaluate a session
  • Present, present and review a training session

Information
Candidates will be required to study and prepare work outside of the taught days to meet assessment criteria.

Assessment
The Assessment criteria are available for course candidates to aid in the development of their knowledge, skills and course work.

Written Assessment
Will be required and will include a Practice File and a Reflective Log/Diary.

Practice File
This is a 'Structured Collection of Documents' mapped to specific learning outcomes in a unit of assessment.

Material within this file would contain evidence of candidates' research and definitions and analysis. Part of this would be the development of a training pack as prescribed with additional exercises highlighting different aspects of learning and assessing.

Reflective Log
This is a written description by the candidate reflecting on how and what they have learned.

This will be used to evaluate own work and learning and will include evaluation of a peer and own learning and development from that process.

Practical Assessment
This will take place during the course on the taught days and will involve presentation, demonstrating a teaching method and link to learning styles (Lesson plan will form part of the written work). Candidates will also be required to demonstrate the ability to evaluate and critically reflect on own and peer performance in a constructive and developmental manner.

This course requires registering with the awarding body (OCNER part of NOCN) in order for accreditation to be possible, pending positive outcome of assessment.

Prices, including assessment, moderation, registration and certification and training days can be obtained from TCR.
