Training Assessment Quality Assurance Units
Assessor Qualifications
Two level 3 Awards and a level 3 Certificate have been developed for assessors. Each has one or more units in common. Unit 1 is a knowledge based and Units 2 & 3 are competence based.
There are four options to this qualification:
Option 1
Stand-alone Unit
- Understand the Principles and Practices of Assessment (knowledge)

Option 2
Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
- Understand the Principles and Practices of Assessment (knowledge) Credit value 3
- Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (competence) Credit value 6
Total Credits Required: 9
Option 3
Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement
- Understand the Principles and Practices of Assessment (knowledge) Credit Value.3
- Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (competence) Credit Value 6
Total Credits Required: 9
Option 4
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
To achieve this award you will be required to submit an evidence based portfolio that demonstrates your competence for the following three units that make up the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
- Understand the Principles and Practices of Assessment (knowledge) Credit Value 3
- Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment (competence) Credit Value 6
- Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding (competence) Credit Value 6
Target Audience:
Candidates whose role involves the assessment of both occupational competence and vocationally related achievement will in both a classroom and working environment
